Health & Safety Manager

Purpose of the Role 

Manage and oversee the Health & Safety of the site. The application of occupational health and safety measures across an organization. This includes conducting risk assessments and safety inspections, creating and disseminating health and safety guidelines, and training employees and management on compliance practices. Additionally, Safety Manager are responsible for investigating incidents to establish causes and preventive measures. They also ensure that all safety operations comply with local, HSE regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing health and safety plans.
  • Review and updating existing policies
  • Enforcing policies and evaluating practices to ensure compliance with legal guidelines and preventative measures.
  • Advise and instruct on various safety related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc)
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
  • Conducting training sessions and monitoring compliance.
  • Recording, investigating accidents and providing recommendations for improvement. Involvement with insurance for health and safety.
  • Overseeing risk assessments, safety inspections, and training employees on compliance practices.
  • Initiate premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective equipment)
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to Board/SMT.
  • Manage H&S Budget
  • Enhancing health and safety culture in the organisation
  • Supporting, guiding H&S for our other sites for Shirevale & NCC 

Competencies Required

  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Strong management knowledge of H&S
  • Ability to multitask a number of key projects at any one time
  • Strong influencer who can clearly communicate key points both internally and externally
  • Commercial awareness
  • Work well within a team
  • Strong presentation skills in both writing and presenting
  • Investigations of Incidents/Accidents

Job Description

  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities, including supplier performance, purchase order placement and material shortage elimination.
  • Accountable for day-to-day procurement activities ensuring customers’ needs are delivered in budget and within our agreed supplier SLA requirements.
  • Managing and oversee supplier relationships reviews and visits, negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes (and contracts) and establishing and nurturing strategic partnership relationships where appropriate
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute to the development of Bradburys strategic direction
  • Set a high standard of team management including objective setting and personal development plans to support the company appraisal process.
  • Directly responsible for sourcing packaging and Ingredients, negotiating and placing of contracts with suppliers within budget
  • Providing the business with up-to-date market and product information to enable informed business decisions to be formulated
  • Communicate with suppliers when escalated from supply chain where problems are encountered with regards to delayed deliveries and quality issues
  • Liaise with technical department with regards to investigating and take corrective action if purchased materials do not meet specified requirements.
  • Identify and suggest new suppliers to the Company. Ensure a thorough and comprehensive vetting process is undertaken
  • Reduce stock write offs to agreed minimum yearly level in liaison with supply chain department
  • Ensure all purchases fully comply with legislative and Company Health and Safety
  • Manage supplier relationships, using supplier performance management tools,
  • Undertake visits to existing and new suppliers when required

Essential Skills & qualifications

 

CIPS

Strong leadership abilities to inspire and guide the procurement team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers.

Strategic thinking and decision-making to develop procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Effective delegation and time management to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
