Bradburys Cheese recently exhibited a fabulous range of British Cheese for the first time this year at the Salon du Fromage Show in Paris
The show attracts hundreds of cheese suppliers, mostly from France but also from countries such as Switzerland, Italy, Holland and the UK amongst others
This year’s show, the UK suppliers were deemed to be guests of honour and Bradburys were delighted to welcome the British Ambassador for France and his team to our stand on the third day of the show
He spent quite some time engaging with our team and enjoyed a number of products including Cricketers 15 month Extra Mature Cheddar, Cricketers Vintage Cheddar (24 months) and Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, all of which were very well received
Overall, Bradburys were exhibiting over 50 products (all British) in retail & foodservice formats and we attracted a number of high quality potential customers from the USA, Australia, China, Scandanavia and mainland Europe – Germany seemed to be particularly strong in terms of numbers of enquires and we have around 30 leads to follow up in the coming days, many of which are key, large retailers across Europe and beyond (mostly via distributors as this is of course the general route to market)
The general feeling of the show was that, although the French presence was the main focus of the show around the hall, we had the edge with a number of innovative products that could be of interest including our new Yes Chef! Cheeseboard solution – Our 20g mini portions also attracted much interest as a snacking option in both foodservice and retail – Many visitors commented on the fact that it was great to see something different!
Truckle Brothers waxed truckles were very well received and our 3 Cheese British Selection Pack also caught the eye of not only new potential customers, but also existing customers and we have work to do in terms of following this up rapidly
Needless to say, our value and mid-tier British range was also popular with many customers looking for a British value option, as interest in British cheese continues to build around the world as a welcome point of difference
British Cheese, particularly in Europe is still to be fully understood, especially quality aged cheddar – The perception is, possibly unjustly, that all cheddar is the same! So it’s always great to see the reaction of visitors when they taste our products, the myth is very quickly dispelled
As well as our export sales team of 3, we also had 2 of our sourcing team onsite at the show for 3 days who were very busy meeting with many of our existing European suppliers and also searching for new, innovative solutions to bring back to our sales team in Buxton and it’s always great to meet up with the many familiar faces of our current suppliers who value Bradburys as an essential packer, distributor & route to market for their products in the UK retail & foodservice market.
The export team will be exhibiting next at the PLMA Show in Holland between the 29th – 30th May as we continue to take the Great British Cheese message across the globe
